Scaling up – expanding action on the global crisis facing freshwater biodiversity

Why attend
Learn about freshwater conservation success stories, get inspired, and help us to scale-up these successes to match the scale of the ongoing freshwater biodiversity crisis.
HideDescription
The global crisis facing freshwater biodiversity requires a global effort. We will focus on developing solutions for conserving freshwater biodiversity at the global scale. The session is hosted by members of the Alliance for Freshwater Life (https://allianceforfreshwaterlife.org/) which aims to build a world where people better understand, value, and safeguard freshwater biodiversity. We will demonstrate that conservation works by sharing success stories presented by practitioners working on the ground, noting that despite these successes at the site or country scale freshwater biodiversity continues to decline at an alarming rate and scale globally. Building on the recommended actions from a linked session led by WWF we will lay out solutions, and describe and advance actions that need to be taken from site to global scale. An expert panel discussion will focus on ways to ramp up these actions to match the scale of this global challenge.
