IUCN Knowledge Hub & Capacity Development

IUCN Knowledge Hub

The IUCN Knowledge Hub’s main objective will be to showcase and promote the wealth of IUCN’s production of knowledge: its publications as well as knowledge products based on IUCN standards. These are some of the most important results of IUCN’s unique global collaboration between Members, Commissions, donors and partners.

Come discover IUCN’s knowledge via the virtual bookshelf and browse sample copies of the latest IUCN publications. Computer stations will allow visitors to delve deeper into the IUCN catalogue, with the IUCN Librarian and volunteers on hand to assist with searching and downloading publications.

Simultaneously, during the first four days of the Forum, the Knowledge Hub will host dedicated knowledge product sessions. Drop in to hear about the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, the Red List of Ecosystems, Key Biodiversity Areas, Protected Planet, and more, directly from the experts who maintain them. Find out how to get involved in their development and provide feedback to help ensure that they remain robust and fit to respond to the challenges of the ever-changing world. Capacity Development

Capacity development is the act of providing the means, tools and infrastructures (physical or virtual ones), that enable the acquisition or the increase of knowledge, hard skills and soft skills.

The Cap Dev area intends to promote all endeavours aiming at building capacities in the field of nature conservation. How?

  • By providing organisations working in the field of capacity building a platform, a place where they can share information and promote their activities
  • By brainstorming on the best practices of capacity building for conservation (panel discussions, meetings)
  • By introducing and comparing capacity development projects around the world, so that these projects can grow, cooperate and adapt to different contexts.

The daily programme will be available on www.capdev2020.papaco.org.
