Dr Sean O'BRIEN

President and CEO, NatureServe

As the leader of NatureServe, Sean works with conservation professionals across North America to ensure that reliable data about threatened and endangered species are available to all land-use decision-makers to ensure the best outcomes for biodiversity. The biologists (of so many kinds), technologists, policy experts, and communications professionals in the NatureServe Network know what and where species are and what the threats to these species are. Sean holds a B.A. and Ph.D. in Environmental Science from the University of Virginia. He has more than 20 years experience working for nonprofit organizations in operations, fundraising, communications, and as president and CEO.
