Dialogue: Indigenous Peoples and the Post 2020 GBF: Sharing Perspectives, Gearing up for Action

HideDescription
The CBD released its first draft of the Post 2020 global biodiversity framework (GBF), which contains goals and targets for achieving the objectives of the Convention. Indigenous Peoples, through the International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity (IIFB), have participated, despite the challenges associated with virtual convenings, in subsidiary bodies and working group meetings where the GBF is being negotiated. The IIFB is in the process of analyzing the first draft the GBF, with the aim of developing positions and proposals for presentation at the Third Global Dialogue of IPLCs on the Post-2020 GBF in early August. The IIFB regards the IUCN Congress as a key opportunity to present their proposals and positions on the GBF and to rally support from the conservation community, key stakeholders, and CBD Parties. The panel discussion will be held at the sidelines of the World Conservation Congress where IP representatives will share their perspectives, engage in dialogue with key part
