Worldwide screening of the documentary "The Roar of the Marañon", with live discussion

Why attend
Join us for the world premiere of "The Roar of the Marañon", a brand-new documentary about the megadams planned for the Marañon River, the source of the Amazon. The session will include a live presentation by Bruno Monteferri, co-director of the documentary and environmental lawyer from the Peruvian Society for Environmental Law.
HideDescription
What would the consequences be of damming the great Marañon River, the source of the Amazon? The Marañon is one of only six large rivers that connect the Andes with the Amazon basin, and its future is under threat from megadams - and therefore, that of the thousands of people that depend directly on the river, and the complex ecosystems that it nourishes. This press conference will include a brief introduction to this social and environmental challenge, and our call to action to the Peruvian government and the global conservation community. Access will be provided for watching the documentary online, for free. The documentary will be available with English and Spanish subtitles. This campaign is linked to Motion 013 at the 2021 IUCN Congress: https://www.iucncongress2020.org/motion/013
