Human-wildife conflict management for people and wildlife

Why attend
Join this session to learn more about the importance to effectively manage human-wildife conflicts for the benefits of biodiversity and people. During this session, you will hear presentations from experts, after which a panel will discuss how to move forwards on the recently adopted IUCN motion on HWC.
HideDescription
All over the world, human-wildlife conflict (HWC) seriously impacts wildlife populations and people. In a report, recently launced by WWF and UNEP, we call on the global community to recognize HWC as a worldwide threat not just to wildlife and communities, but to various other sectors, and develop holistic and integrated measures that can be scaled up to minimize and manage HWC and enable coexistence between people and wildlife. Achieving this will require collective and collaborative action from the international community, regional and national governments, companies, donor agencies, civil society organizations, people and communities, researchers, and individuals to co-create and implement solutions undertaking respective actions. In this session we will explore the mentioned report, get first hand experiences from experts, and discuss with a panel how to move forwards on the recently adopted IUCN motion on HWC management.
