Mrs Sandra VALENZUELA

Director, Fondo Mundial Para la Naturaleza (WWF Colombia)

Sandra is a lawyer with Masters in International Affairs/Development Studies and Environmental Studies. She has worked in the environmental field since 1996, dedicated to conservation and sustainable development. She worked for 10 years in the National Protected Areas Agency in different capacities including policy development, negotiations with local communities on PA boundaries and governance, and as director for the Amazon and Orinoco regions. She has sound experience in designing and implementing cross border integrated conservation and sustainable production strategies. Sandra joined WWF Colombia in 2003 and is now its CEO. She  leads public sector and private fundraising and engagement promoting different types and forms of funding, including Heritage Colombia. She is closely involved in PA management effectiveness, and she is the Co-chair of IUCN Green List Standards Committee and the President of the Eagl in Colombia.
