Dr Rosalina GABRIEL

Assistant Professor, University of the Azores

I studied Biology at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon, pursued higher studies at the University of the Azores and, in 2000, obtained a PhD degree in Plant Ecophysiology at Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine . I currently work at the University of the Azores, where I teach Botany, Cell Biology and Sustainability, among other subjects. I have been involved in island research, mostly using the Azores archipelago as a model system and have created the Azores Bryo-Lab. My research focuses mainly on the biology of bryophytes and sustainability and environmental education. I coordinate the RCE Azores, a Regional Centre of Expertise of the United Nations University. I am co-PI of the project Field Guide: Designing Mobile Interactive Tools for Place-Based Learning, that aims to connect communities to nature-rich environments. I have published more than 80 peer-reviewed papers and 12 books. (ORCID: 0000-0002-3550-8010)
