Dr Riad NURMOHAMED

Lecturer / Minister of Public Works, University of Suriname

Riad J. Nurmohamed was born in Paramaribo, Suriname on 25 June 1974. He received his BSc degree in Infrastructure, a MSc degree in Water Resources Engineering, a PhD in Technology. From 2000 till today, he has been working as a full time lecturer and researcher at the University of Suriname, Faculty of Technology, Department Infrastructure. Teaching, participation in research projects, supervision of engineering works, publications, presentations, participating in working groups and events, organization (excursions/meetings/workshops/expos), co-ordination, ICT and computer works are some of the tasks/responsibilities, which he fulfilled at (inter)national level. Since 2009 he is the education and research program coordinator of the master programme in Sustainable Management of Natural Resources. In the period 2015 till 2020 he was a member of the Parliament of Suriname. Since 2015-present he is the Minister of Public Works.
