Secretary-General, World Heritage Promotion Team of Korean Tidal Flats

Dr. Kyong-O, Moon is a specialist researcher and advisor on World Natural Heritage. He has been working on UNESCO programs like World Heritage, Biosphere Reserve, Geopark, and Ramsar site for over 15 years. He has a broad understanding of the functioning of marine ecosystems, geo(morpho)logical system as well as socio-cultural system in combination with expertise on integrated management for World Heritage.
From 2008 to 2010 Kyong-O, Moon was an assistant professor in Krasnoyarsk Pedagogic University, Russia and from 2010 to 2014 a visiting professor in Mokpo National University. He has been working for the World Heritage Promotion Team of Korean Tidal Flat as a Secretary General since 2014. He contributed to enlarge Wetland Protected area over 1,000 square kilometers (approx. 47% of the whole tidal flat area in ROK) in 2018. In recognition of his efforts, he was awarded the Prime Minister's Commendation in 2020.
