Dr Krithi KARANTH

Chief Conservation Scientist, Centre for Wildlife Studies

Dr. Karanth is Chief Conservation Scientist at the Centre for Wildlife Studies, Adjunct Faculty at Duke and NCBS. She has a PhD from Duke and a M.E.Sc from Yale. Her work in Asia spans 22 years focusing on human dimensions of wildlife conservation. She has published 100+ scientific and popular articles, mentored > 200 scientists and engaged 700 citizen scientists. Her work has been featured by > 200 media outlets such as the BBC, National Geographic, NPR, New York Times, Time etc and has co-produced 4 documentaries. Her  40+ recognitions including the National Geographic Society’s 10,000th grantee and Emerging Explorer, WEF  Young Global Leader, UF Outstanding Young Alumnus, Elle, Vogue and Femina Women of the Year, and Thrive Conservation Leadership Award. Recently, Krithi received the WINGS Women of Discovery Award, GQ Environmental Hero, Duke Alumni Award, 2019 Rolex Award for Enterprise and 2020 Eisenhower Fellowship.
