Dr James LANGSTON

International Forestry Coordinator, UBC Forestry

I coordinate the Master of International Forestry and am a lecturer at the University of British Columbia. My teaching and research centres on the patterns and relationships that shape development outcomes. I work with people in forest landscapes for the long term in order to keep learning and positively influence systems.  Forestry is ultimately about the relationships people keep with forests. As such I am dedicated to furthering the agenda of embedded science. I am interested in the ways people are affected by decisions and narratives that are endogenous vs exogenous to their landscapes. My goal is to increase the likelihood that spatial development initiatives lead to more inclusive, sustainable and prosperous futures for people and nature.
