Mr David MUTIGA

Director-Ecosystem Restoration, Mazingira Yetu Organisation

David holds a bachelors degree in Applied Biology and currently pursuing a masters degree in Conservation Biology. His research interests center around fresh water lotic ecosystem, with an ongoing project; “Evaluation of river ecological integrity using benthic invertebrates; A case study of River Malewa”. He joined Mazingira Yetu Org in 2018 as Director of Ecosystem Restoration with primary focus on urban river ecosystems. His work involves designing restoration strategies which include training guides and riverfront designs. Our most successful projects include River Gatharaine Riparian Park, Korogocho riverfront park and the ongoing Ngong River Restoration and Sanitation Works in Kibra slums. This project involves evacuation of solid waste from 9 km stretch of River Ngong and adjacent drainage channels, construction of community toilet blocks and material recovery facilities.
