Dr Daniel CEBRIÁN

SAPBIO Coordinator, UNEP Mediterranean Action Plan SPA/RAC. Barcelona Convention

 Dr. Daniel Cebrian is experienced in strategic and operational planning, implementation and monitoring of marine and coastal biodiversity conservation at inter-governmental, inter-agency and regional level from a global perspective, assisting countries implementation in the Mediterranean Region of UN 2030 Agenda SDGs and CBD Aichi targets. That includes working since 2003 in support of the UNEP Regional Seas, as SAPBIO Coordinator Officer within the UNEP/Mediterranean Action Plan Specially Protected Areas Regional Activity Centre (SPA/RAC).

He has been involved along his career in the creation and development of numerous marine and coastal protected areas and the legal protection of many threatened species in the Mediterranean.

He holds a PhD. on conservation biology by the University Complutense of Madrid and a MSc. level on vertebrates zoology & ecology by the University of Sevilla. He speaks Spanish, English, French, Italian and Modern Greek.
