Mr Albert TAXONERA AMOROS

Founder and Director, Associação Projeto Biodiversidade

While volunteering for a conservation project, I recognised the threats faced by sea turtles and their environment. With a group of young conservationists, we created Project Biodiversity, an organisation that operates in Cabo Verde and that aims at a world in which humans and nature thrive together; where communities practice sustainable use and management of natural resources, while protecting them. We implement conservation programs that promote a sustainable growth model, protecting Cabo Verde's natural ecosystems and biodiversity through community-based approaches. Since 2015, we lead a sea turtle conservation project (featured by BBC Earth), a seabird and osprey monitoring program, a participative management project involving Marine Protected Areas and local fisheries, and community initiatives with economic alternatives linked to wildlife conservation that improve livelihoods.
