Ms Adjany COSTA

Advisor to the President of the Republic of Angola, Government of Angola

Currently serving as the Advisor for Environmental Affairs to the President of the Republic of Angola, Adjany Costa has served as the youngest Minister in the history of her country, at age 30, in the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Environment. With an M.Sc. in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation, she has progressed the dialogue on Climate Action and on the creation of the first Marine Protected Area in Angola.  As an ethno-conservationist, she is pursuing her PhD at the University of Oxford aiming at developing a TEK cored CBNRM model for the headwaters of the KAZA TFC in the Angolan Highlands, that can be replicated in other marine, freshwater or inland environments. She has spoken at numerous national and international events of significance and has received various recognitions for her work, including the 2019 United Nations Young Champions of the Earth Award and a decoration in Angola with a Golden Medal for Civil Merit, in 2019.
