Why attend
The HLD will aim to push thinking on the links between human health, animal health and the environment related to emerging infectious diseases. Participants will learn about a 'One Health' approach for preventing future pandemics, key actions at a national level, and the role for IUCN's One Programme.
HideDescription
The event will focus on the need for a ‘One Health’ approach, particularly at a national level in response to the emergence of Covid-19. Experts will present the drivers behind emerging infectious diseases, and their impacts upon human health and the environment and wildlife. A moderated expert panel will then discuss priority solutions at a national level in line with a ‘One Health’ approach that are needed in order to prevent and mitigate the impacts from future pandemics. Finally, the role IUCN's One Programme can play in supporting the implementation of these priority actions at a national level will be identified. Opportunities for new actions and partnerships will be identified.
