Monitoring to Mobilize: Open Data for Biodiversity Conservation

Why attend
This session uses the Open Data Platform, Resource Watch, to highlight how data and maps can be used to conserve and protect our planet.
HideDescription
Open access satellite data has transformed the way we monitor natural resources around the world. Decision-makers from myriad sectors can now track forests and fisheries in near real-time and act on illegal behavior. But understanding the different drivers of habitat and biodiversity loss requires that we bring together trusted datasets on social, environmental and economic drivers of change. In this session, a demonstration of the Resource Watch open-access data discovery tool and partnership from the World Resources Institute, will showcase the ways in which open data can fuel conservation activities.
