Mangrove restoration, an example in the Red River delta

Mangroves are the only forests located at the sea-land interface in tropical and subtropical regions. They are key components of tropical coastal ecosystems and provide many services. They are exposed to the impacts of climate change and human activities. As a result, their ecological functions and the ecosystem services they provide are threatened. The issue of mangrove restoration is particularly important in Southeast Asia because 34% of the world's mangroves are located in this region where they are seriously threatened. In Vietnam, the establishment of property contracts between the government and local communities is considered a good choice because it allows local communities to use mangroves for their socio-economic development while protecting them. The pitch will aim to present an example of restoration of this ecosystem in the Red River Delta in northern Vietnam.
