The transition to sustainable agriculture: for people, food and nature

Why attend
A diverse group of stakeholders from the public and private sectors will discuss how we can pave the path towards the conservation of nature while enhancing the production of healthy food for a growing population. Leaders in the food and land use fields will showcase their experiences in transitioning to a more sustainable agricultural system.
HideDescription
The session will be co-hosted by IUCN and FOLU, and will feature Janez Potočnik (Co-Chair UNEP International Resource Panel, Chairman Forum for the Future of Agriculture), Patricia Zurita (CEO, BirdLife International), Giulia Di Tommaso (CEO, CropLife International), Dinesh Balam (Associate Director, WASSAN, India), and Sue Pritchard (Chief Executive, The Food, Farming and Countryside Commission, United Kingdom). This session aims to identify ways of creating common ground between agriculture and conservation in order to address the issues of building a food-secure future for a growing global population, while ensuring the environment is protected from large scale, indefinite degradation. It will shed light on the importance of multi-stakeholder dialogue in finding solutions to complex food and land use problems by showcasing perspectives from a diverse set of actors.
