Particular qualifications to be a Regional Councillor:
I will use my commitment to environmental conservation and years of experience working to be an effective advocate and mission driven. I believe in building partnership with the private and public sector including individuals through rallying for consensus around an issue. I will also use my intimate knowledge of local landscapes for advancing sound and fair environmental initiatives especially for Pacific people. My experience include respect for science and traditional knowledge which I will use to contribute to IUCN’s direction and regional strategies.

Experience in fields of concern to IUCN:

Three years of experience in fundraising for a conservation NGO and fund development planning and management, with eleven years experiences in protected areas development and community-based protected areas management planning. In my combined 14 years working for a national conservation NGO in Palau, I design projects, develop grant proposals, and manage projects and grants. Similarly, to facilitate management planning processes I use strategic planning tools such as results based management, train community protected areas site managers in adaptive management. My strengths lie in planning within local context, although I have represented my organization in regional project planning as our focal representative in PCS’s partnership with Birdlife. Other regional or international experiences include representation at the GEF CSO meetings and IUCN regional and international congress meetings. I also served 9 years member of the board of directors of the Palau International Coral Reef Center.
