Ms. Hoven is Managing Director of GIZ, a leading German development agency. She is development economist with > 30 years of international experience and focus on sustainability/ climate issues. From 2010 to 2014, she served as World Bank Group Executive Director representing Germany. She held various high-level positions in the BMZ (German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development), as Director-General focusing on global health, displacement and migration, climate protection and sustainability. She co-initiated the NDC-Partnership which supports countries in its climate action. She was a driving force in the COP23 run-up shaping the Insuresilience Partnership, a landmark global partnership to strengthen the resilience of poor and vulnerable countries against impacts of extreme weather. She represented BMZ on the governance bords of GFATM, GAVI, GCF and GCA.
