Nature-Based Solutions Revisited: Beyond Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation, Towards Flourishing

Why attend
Nature-based solutions” (NbS) are increasingly touted as a solution to the intertwined climate and biodiversity crises. In the lead-up to COP26 countries are increasingly focusing on the role that NbS can play in national commitments for mitigating the effects of climate change. However, the term NbS is accepted by all stakeholders.
HideDescription
There is growing awareness that ‘nature-based solutions' (NbS) can help to protect us from climate change impacts while slowing further warming, supporting biodiversity, and securing ecosystem services; however, not all stakeholders are in agreement, nor does it take into account the symbiotic relationship that indigenous peoples and local communities have with nature, and the key role IPLCs play.
