Transforming the food system: embedding the value of nature and people in decision-making (Central Stage C)

Why attend
A call for action to build resilience, mainstream best practices, protect biodiversity and contribute to more sustainable agriculture & food sector. We will hear insights from businesses & partners involved or interested in the TEEBAgriFood for business project, and discuss how valuing nature and people decision making can lead to actionable change
HideDescription
Transformation in the agri-food sector has the potential to deliver systemic benefits for nature and people. The TEEBAgriFood for Business project supports this transformation through guidance, training and pilot applications of a capitals approach to business decision-making, leading to long-term protection of nature and a healthy food system. In the session, Banorte, a major Mexican bank, and Liv Up, a Brazilian start-up, will share their experience of applying the TEEBAgriFood Operational Guidelines for Business. A high-level panel discussion, composed of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, the UN Environmental Program, Danone company and the Netherlands’ Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, will reflect on these testimonials and explore the roles of the private and public sectors in transition toward more sustainable food system. The session is also part of the Government Dialogue program of Capitals Coalition.
