Blended finance to catalyse investments for coral reefs: The Global Fund for Coral Reefs (ACTUAL TIME 16:30-17:30)

Why attend
From 4:30pm/16:30 CEST, find out how a major investment vehicle, made to fund innovative business models can increase the resilience of coral reefs and the communities that depend on them.
HideDescription
The GFCR is the first UN fund dedicated to SDG 14, ‘Life Below Water’ and the only global blended finance instrument dedicated to coral reefs. The innovative blended finance Fund is driven by a coalition of private philanthropies, Member States, UN agencies and private sector impact investors with the ambition to mobilise USD $625 million for coral reef conservation over the next 10 years. Under a guiding Theory of Change and Investment Plan, the GFCR’s Grant and Investment Window leverage grants to unlock private sector investment in the blue economy, incubate investable projects and scale up reef-positive solutions that address indirect and direct drivers of degradation (e.g., overfishing, unsustainable coastal development, destructive fishing, pollution, boat anchoring, etc.). https://globalfundcoralreefs.org/.
