Mrs Joan CARLING

Executive Director, Indigenous Peoples Rights International -IPRI

Ms. Joan Carling is na indigenous activist from the Cordillera Philippines. She has been working on indigenous peoples' issues for more than 20 years. Her fields of expertise are human rights and indigenous peoples rights, environment and climate change, and sustainable development. Ms. Carling was the Secretary General of the Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact-- AIPP-- a coalition of 50 indigenous organizations in Asia. In September 2018, she received the Champions of the Earth Lifetime Achievement Award from the UN Environment Programme. She is presently the Executive Director of the Indigenous Peoples Rights International-IPRI, a global indigenous peoples organization  addressing the criminalization of and violence against indigenous peoples.
