Centre "Zapovedniks" works to raise public awareness and support of Russian Protected Areas since 1996. Centre's programs include local community engagement, professional education of PA staff, environmental education for kids and youth, volunteering camps, environmental events for business, eco-tourism, and infrastructure on protected areas. In 2019 Centre Zapovedniks established Protected Areas Embassy Foundation and this Foundation is aimed to be the focal point of all activities and programs
