Protecting the Ocean or protecting destruction? Bycatch and Bottom Trawling in European MPAs

Why attend
Join us to learn more about European Marine Protected Areas and the issue of dolphin bycatch.
HideDescription
This conference will be about the European policies regarding Marine Protected Areas, and how they are applied in reality. The first part will give an overview of the French situation: in recent years, an increasing number of dead dolphins have been found on the French Atlantic beaches, especially in the Bay of Biscay (Golfe de Gascogne), a well known MPA. Several NGOs revealed that a lot of fisheries are involved in those deaths. On the contrary, the english situation could be an example of what a proper application of the UEs policies should be.
