Mr Matthieu RICARD

Founder, Shechen Temple, Karuna Shechen

Buddhist monk, author, photographer, scientist and co-creator of Karuna Shechen humanitarian organization in Nepal. He has been a speaker at various international events, including ten times at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the United Nations, the World Government Summit in Dubai and TED where his interventions on happiness and altruism have been seen by more than ten million people.
He is the author of many important works including Le Moine et le Philosophe (with his father Jean-François Revel) and most recently, l'Emerveillement. As a scientist and Buddhist monk, he has actively participated in scientific research in neuroscience on the effects of meditation on the brain. He is committed to the protection of the environment and animals and has been a vegetarian for 50 years. In 2019, Matthieu's organization in Nepal helped more than 380'000 people.
