Helping people and nature adapt to a changing climate

Why attend
Learn how rural communities in Africa are being affected by changes in weather and climate, how they are coping with these changes, and on-the-ground interventions we are implementing that help people and nature adapt in a changing climate. Learn more at wwfclimatecrowd.org
HideDescription
A major oversight of most climate change assessments to date is the inadequate consideration of indirect impacts on biodiversity. For example, how humans cope with changes in weather and climate, and how those coping strategies might be harmful to biodiversity. This session will present ongoing work from the Africa Biodiversity Collaborative Group, a partnership of seven international conservation non-governmental organizations working in Africa. We will present research and analysis conducted over the past 3 years in 21 sites across Africa. We will also discuss on-the-ground adaptation projects we are currently piloting in 4 countries in Africa.
