This session aims to report the experiences, challenges and opportunities in using the “Dream Map” as tool to promote sustainable landscapes. This approach, developed in the Atlantic forest by IPÊ, a Brazilian NGO, bring together science and local knowledge to plan and transform the landscape. We will introduce the social and environmental complexities related to transformations observed in the Atlantic forest landscape in the westernmost region of Sao Paulo State, in the past 70 years; and describe this participative strategy for engaging stakeholders’ in landscape planning.
