Role of Yoga and meditation in inspiring and promoting nature conservation

Why attend
The session will demonstrate the relevance and importance of traditional practices like Yoga and meditation in influencing individual behavioural change among practitioners, especially youth to take up conservation actively. The discussion can inspire conservationists to actively promote traditional practices as an important tool for conservation.
HideDescription
The session will host a discussion between a Yoga practitioner who has experienced and researched the values of Yoga in augmenting individual positive behavioural change towards conservation and a sceptic who does not believe in this theory. With an element of humour, it will demystify myths from the perspective of a non-believer who will ask sceptical questions and will get appropriate answers based on research. The research, in partnership with Africa Yoga Project, focuses on women and youth practitioners in particular and will restrict to non-religious dimensions of Yoga, particularly meditation. We will also provide case studies developed in Africa.
