Natural Areas United against Climate Change : pilot action of a Regional Network of Natural Areas

Why attend
The very first regional collective initiative of managers of protected natural areas to improve the resilience of ecosystems to the challenges of climate change, to enhance their roles as buffers and sentinels of climate change and to mobilize society in favour of these effective and cost effective "nature-based solutions".
HideDescription
The french Regional Network of Protected Natural Areas of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (RREN) brings together 31 management structures of various statuses (IUCN categories I to V): National Parks, Regional Nature Parks, Conservatories, Reserves, Departmental Local Authorities, etc. RREN represents more than 700 experts and 60% of the Provencal territory, from the Alps to the Mediterranean. All these natural areas have decided to mobilize collectively to face the challenges of climate change, at a national scale with the aim to reach international level. The objectives are to present this network initiative and the striking action of this network roadmap : a nudge common advocacy for citizens - especially young people and decision-makers to show that a network of healthy and functional ecosystems are effective and inexpensive solutions to the challenges of climate change and increase the resilience of an entire territory, including agriculture and urban areas.
