Global Tree Assessment

Why attend
Branching out – why and how we mobilised the tree community to assess the conservation status of all the world’s trees.
HideDescription
Trees are essential to life on earth – playing important economic, ecological, and cultural roles. However, the threats to trees are many and diverse and there is a vital need for an increased conservation focus on tree species. The Global Tree Assessment identifies and prioritises the tree species around the world of greatest conservation concern by mobilising people globally to share their knowledge on the world’s trees. If we do not have the necessary information to undertake conservation assessments for the world’s trees, how can we effectively conserve them? The Global Tree Assessment has filled this knowledge gap for trees through innovative and collaborative methods and the results will have far-reaching positive consequences for mobilising action to protect the most threatened tree species from extinction and protect and restore biodiverse landscapes.
