Candidate info

Particular qualifications to be a Regional Councillor:
As Vice-Chair of the French IUCN Committee, I am the representative of the IUCN Member organization Les Eco Maires, an international association of 2000 local authorities, committed to preserving the environment. Nature Conservation is my passion. My involvement in associations is long-standing, however more recently, I have had the honour of joining the board of Bird Life in France. My professional and associative activities have always been in the environmental field. I have a degree in political science and a PhD in environmental law. I began my career working to defend the environment, particularly in Africa. Thereafter, I became a biodiversity advisor for the French presidential campaign, later working with Ecology ministers on topics like natural parks, protected marine areas, biodiversity and CITES. Throughout my +20-year career, I have had the opportunity to participate in COP on Biodiversity, collaborating with NGOs, most often within France and Europe, allowing me to follow international negotiations and establish a rich, international professional and personal network in nature conservation. This institutional knowledge will enable me to effectively contribute to the strengthening and international positioning of the IUCN. Over my career, I have developed skills that I believe to be relevant to the position of Regional Councillor, including organizational strategy, multi-stakeholder dialogue, and governance and managing of financial issues.

Experience in fields of concern to IUCN:

As an active member of the French Committee and IUCN, I followed the preparation of the last three congresses and familiarised myself with the processes and internal rules. I participated in various national and European meetings, following the debates and governance issues. I aided the French government and Committee to draft the proposal to host the Congress, and contributed to the work we have been doing for nearly two years to welcome you to Marseille. I am on the Board of the Strategic Orientation Council of the Foundation for Biodiversity Research, whose mission is to support and work with scientists to increase and transfer knowledge of biodiversity. I have been an elected official in a Parisian municipality (pop. 120,000) since 2001, and believe I can provide original analysis to help set local and regional communities in motion. I also created the National Biodiversity Forum, an annual event assembling NGOs, the government, institutions and committed companies, now organized alongside the French Biodiversity Agency. My candidature is thus one of an environmental activist, trained in environmental law, professionally involved in international action, who is also anchored in her territory as a local representative. I believe I can make the most of these experiences and be an added value to IUCN. I am passionate about IUCN’s mission and would love to devote my energy and motivation to our Council for the next four years, should I be elected thanks to your support.
