Particular qualifications to be a Regional Councillor:
I have successfully completed my first term as Regional Councillor for the South and East Asia region. I have been an active and engaged Councillor and continue to do so if elected for a second term. I have more than 25 years of global, regional and national conservation work experience, of which over 10 years in a leadership position. Being young in a leadership position within international institutions, I meet the guidance for the Regional Councillors election. During my first term as a Regional Councillor, I regularly attended Council meetings. I also assisted the Council through being member of: the working group on including regional governments in the structure of the Union (WCC-2016-Res-003), Urban Task Force, Private Sector Task Force, Post-2020 Biodiversity Framework Task Force, FAC/GCC Membership Dues Task Force, the Finance and Audit Committee, and the External Governance Review Task Force. I attended the last four ARO Regional Conservation Forums in Asia (in Nepal, South Korea, Thailand, Pakistan) and attended three World Conservation Congresses (Barcelona-Spain, Jeju-South Korea and Hawai’i-USA). I am supporting the Natural Resources Governance Framework Regional program, Ecosystems Protecting Infrastructure and Communities (EPIC) and the Asia Protected Areas Partnership of IUCN Asia regional office. I chair the FAC/GCC Membership Dues Task Force since the 97th Council meeting and am contributing to the FAC Task Force on financial planning post-2020. I am also supporting GCF project development in Nepal.

Experience in fields of concern to IUCN:

I am a member of CEC since the 19th General Assembly of IUCN in Argentina and later became a national activator after the 4th World Conservation Congress in Spain. I am also a member of CEESP after the 3rd World Conservation Congress in Thailand and a CEM member after the 6th Congress in the USA. I have organized the world's first international conference on conflict and conservation involving IUCN at all levels. I was advisor to IUCN Nepal National Committee and activated all six Commissions members in Nepal by organizing meetings and linking them with national committees. I visited Thailand and India to meet Commission members. I participated in the Asia Region Members Committee (ARMC) in China and worked closely with the ARMC Chair on IUCN issues related to the region. As a Councillor, I have reached out to IUCN Members in Europe, particularly in Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium, Czech Republic, Turkey and Portugal and Asia, by visiting protected areas and meeting IUCN Members, in particular in Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia.
