Why attend

HideDescription
The Mediterranean Sea is one of the most biologically diverse seas in the world but this diversity is threatened by certain human activites such as climate change, overfishing, marine pollution, including marine litter, and unustainable maritime transport practices. According to the “State of the Environment and Development in Mediterranean (SoED)” report (2020, Plan Bleu), the Mediterranean region has one of the highest rates of biodiversity loss in the world: 40% of its marine species are deemed to be in decline. To reverse the trend of this dramatic decline, 8 Mediterranean governments and 5 international organizations are joining forces to launch an action plan : “The Mediterranean: a model sea by 2030” (PAMEx). This action plan contains 19 concrete actions that aims at collectivelly preserve 30% of the Mediteranean Sea, end overfishing, limit plastic pollution and develop sustainable maritime transport by 2030.
