IUCN Local Action Summit

Why attend
In pursuit of “a just world that values and conserves nature,” subnational leaders will convene at the Local Action Summit to unveil exciting new initiatives, announce bold action pledges, and strengthen the role of cities and regions in the global conservation agenda.
HideDescription
The IUCN Local Action Summit will showcase and galvanise the efforts of subnational governments (at all levels) and their partners to deliver conservation outcomes at scale. It will make the case for investing in nature-based solutions as part of a green recovery and seek to exact new and additional commitments for conservation action. In alignment with the Edinburgh Process and pertaining Edinburgh Declaration, the Summit will build momentum towards the adoption of an ambitious and inclusive post-2020 global biodiversity framework. The event runs from 12h00 to 16h00 CEST on 3 September 2021, ahead of the IUCN World Conservation Congress Opening Ceremony.
