Biodiversity, human well-being and nature-based solutions: Best practices

Why attend
Our knowledge of the benefits of nature and outdoor recreation for human health and well-being has increased tremendously over the last few years. Nature revives, moves and brings us together. Join the session to learn more about practical nature-based solutions in promoting well-being.
HideDescription
The workshop showcases interesting best practices from Finland and Scotland, providing insights into how biodiversity and nature-based solutions enhance well-being in different environments. You will be taken on a journey on a green continuum, starting from protected areas, where biodiversity is at its richest and where the physical, mental and social benefits of nature well-being are at their peak. Next, the virtual expedition continues to urban spaces where green and blue spaces provide possibilities for nature encounters to urban dwellers while promoting well-being. Finally, we conclude in a hospital where nature is brought inside to boost well-being of patients and staff. During the journey from protected areas to built environment, the biodiversity element decreases but continues. You are invited to join this session to learn more about physical, mental and social benefits of biodiversity, which are presented along with practical nature-based solutions.
