Environmental Defenders: How do we support and mobilize our community to respond more effectively?

Why attend
The collective efforts of the international community to defend and protect environmental defenders are simply not going far enough, nor fast enough! Come listen and learn from defenders, activists and IUCN members so that we can mobilize the conservation community to form a new coalition to protect and support these defenders.
HideDescription
Environment human rights defenders, Indigenous People and local activists are increasingly subjected to threats and attacks for their efforts, including harassment, physical violence, criminalization, arbitrary detention, continuous intimidation and killing. In this era of environmental activism, the conservation and environmental community cannot remain on the sidelines. It is more urgent than ever before to step up by working together to protect communities and individuals on the frontlines to secure the environment who are our members and partners. This Conversation with Environmental Defenders will focus on: How can we mobilize the power of the Union and other agencies to respond and revert such trends? What do know about the issues faced by defenders and environmental civil society and how can Marseille be a game changer?
