Dr Francisco SOUZA

Managing Director, FSC Indigenous Foundation

Economist and member of the Apurinã Indigenous Peoples of the Brazilian Amazon. Managing Director of the FSC Indigenous Foundation, a Global Indigenous-led organization that works with/for Indigenous Peoples worldwide from its headquarters office in Panama. He has worked with organizations of 40+ countries in areas connected to Indigenous Peoples, Forests, and Nature-based solutions. With Hivos, WWF, Rainforest Alliance, IADB, IDRC, private foundations, and governments he has collaborated with national or regional initiatives supporting inclusive conservation, right-based development, and Indigenous-based solutions. He is leading a multi-sectoral global alliance aimed to support Indigenous Peoples to achieve self-development and self-reliance. Francisco has a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Master’s degree in Tropical Conservation.
