High Level Dialogue: The Call for a UN Treaty on Plastic Pollution

The need to address plastic pollution at a global level is now recognised as an important issue. The drive for a Global treaty has gained significant momentum in 79 countries. The Global Plastic Pollution Crisis and Circular Economy will be discussed as part of the solution, among other topics.

The Objective of the session is to discuss key issues surrounding the implementation of a global agreement from different stakeholder perspectives. The session aims to build on issues raised during the September 2021 Ministerial Conference hosted by the Governments of Ecuador, Germany, Ghana and Viet Nam to build momentum and political will to advance a coherent global strategy to end marine litter and plastic pollution. The panel will have an informal dialogue around several themes.
