Reverse the Red - Improving biodiversity impacts in reforestation and restoration: the right tree in the right place

Pourquoi assister à cette session?
This session is relevant to understand the need of adopting this motion.
HideDescription
The session will focus on the need to adopt this emergency motion. In 2019, concerns were expressed to IUCN about the impacts of large- scale tree planting on biodiversity. Since that time, interest in planting trees – primarily for carbon sequestration – has increased exponentially. Given the scale of the tree planting / reforestation pledges, if additional biodiversity safeguards are not urgently put in place, then poorly designed or executed tree planting/reforestation could have a devastating impact on nature conservation. A number of actions to move forward are presented.
