Espèces exotiques envahissantes dans un monde changeant: analyse juridique d'un défi mondial.

Pourquoi assister à cette session?
Is the current juridical framework for Invasive Alien Species (IAS) enough for addressing the challenges that appear as a consequence of climate change? Can it adapt or are there gaps in the regulation appearing? A critical perspective on the interconnection of IAS and climate change and potential solutions.
HideDescription
This talk will provide a juridical perspective on the interconnection between climate change, its impact on the marine biodiversity balances and movement of species, and the potential threat of invasiveness that the arrival of alien species pose to already weakened ecosystems. The focus will be on the ways in which the law can provide solutions to protect the affected species and ecosystems. The current juridical framework for dealing with invasive alien species will be analyzed to try to determine if it can adapt and be still adequate to regulate invasive alien species in the face of the changes and additional stress that climate change poses to the marine ecosystems or if, on the contrary, gaps in the regulation are appearing. A critical approach to the classical eradication, containment and control measures against invasive alien species will be presented alongside a range of potential legal solutions and conservation measures.
