Climate-Nature Nexus Round-table discussion: Scaling-up Nature-based Solutions (NbS) for Climate

Nature-based Solutions harness the power of nature to help us adapt to the impacts of climate change and reduce risk from disasters, enabling at the same time long-term environmental, societal and economic gains. They are no-regret solutions that involve protecting, restoring and sustainably managing ecosystems to address society's challenges.

During this round-table debate we will investigate the climate-nature nexus, the Nature-based Solutions potential to support climate adaptation and the role of the IUCN Global Standard in this process, we will explore the role that policy and regulation plays for massive Nature-based Solutions deployment on the ground, discuss how the conservation community could better plan, design and implement large scale Nature-based Solutions and how to make these projects more bankable for the finance community. During the second part of the round-table debate we will offer delegates the opportunity to hear and learn about NbS success stories from different regions of the world. We will deep dive together into the best NbS practices to showcase at what extent it is possible to create healthy, productive and resilient ecosystems where nature and people thrive in a cost-effective way.
